The roundtable attendees included Honourable MPP Andrea Khanjin (Barrie-Innisfil, Minister of Red Tape Reduction), Attorney General Honourable MPP Doug Downey (Barrie--Springwater--Oro-Medonte), City of Barrie Councilor Nigussie Nigussie, and numerous community leaders. It was a meaningful discussion about multiculturalism and working together for the benefit of everyone in Barrie and in Ontario while addressing challenges faced by each community. Urgent Social Initiatives Inc. and our Founder and CEO Martin Rochon attended an amazing Simcoe Seenagers event. We celebrated four birthdays! We shared five cakes (one for each person and a group cake), enjoyed plenty of fun activities like exercising to upbeat music, and, as always, spent time in great conversations and great friendships.
We were grateful to be part of this event and to see the great sense of support and belonging that the Simcoe Seenagers continually create. A beautiful event!

Urgent Social Initiatives Inc. and our Founder and CEO Martin Rochon were honoured to be part of an event organized by the Golden Spring Seniors Group.
We started the day of by attending the Grand River Championship of Champions Pow Wow. An incredible experience which is "organized by volunteers on behalf of the Six Nations of the Grand River, an Aboriginal Multicultural event" https://www.grpowwow.ca . A beautiful event attended by visitors from all over the world. So well organized and so many amazing interactions. (We will not post the photos as we respect the request that any such photos are taken with permission only for private use. I do encourage everyone to view the public photos and videos that the organizers have posted.)
We followed this by a Boat Cruise on the Grand River. Full great meal and great music and beautiful conversations ensued. Our thanks to our Captain and crew (you are amazing). A contingent of Barrie's Simcoe Seenagers was in attendance for all of the events and their super comradery added to the joy of the event.
We also utilized out time on our bus to share meaningful stories - including a chance to hold conversations on mitigating social isolation and addressing seniors' and intergenerational issues together. Great, urgent, vital and educational conversations.
Urgent will be holding an educational University level workshop with the Golden Spring Seniors Group in September. This Seniors group continues to impress with weekly events, International guests, and attendance by those of various ages. Outstanding community work!
